Summary: 

We are currently seeking an experienced  Marketing Lead with proven leadership skills to drive PAWS' marketing and advertising efforts, ensuring the successful execution of strategies that support our mission. Key responsibilities include refining our brand to resonate with diverse audiences, including donors and agencies, and increasing the visibility of our messaging. This role also focuses on raising public awareness about animal well-being, and the human-animal bond, and promoting preventive care to reduce the surrender of pets to shelters.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in market research, branding, marketing communications, advertising, and public relations. Strong leadership and collaboration skills are essential, as the role works closely with the Fundraising Team Lead. The role reports to the Board Chair and is accountable to the PAWS Board to meet the expectations of all Board members.

Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Canada is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of animals across the country. Our mission is to protect, advocate for, and care for pets in need, focusing on rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts. We collaborate closely with local shelters, foster networks, and volunteers to ensure that animals receive the love, medical attention, and support they need to thrive. Currently, our primary efforts are concentrated in the London, Ontario area, as the City of London is our main benefactor. 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Build, Manage, and Protect the PAWS Brand:

  • Refine and build brand positioning to create strong emotional connections with target markets (donors, media, agencies, clinics, etc.).

  • Design and source branded materials such as signs, posters, brochures, business cards, and pamphlets.

  • Coordinate with the Business Engagement Lead regarding business partners or sponsors.

  • Ensure that all communications and materials reflect PAWS’ brand and policies.

  • Oversee website content to ensure inclusivity and guide the look and feel of the Annual Report.

  1. General Marketing Leadership:

  • Lead and maintain an active, informed, and engaged Marketing & Communications team.

  • Develop and execute a marketing plan with defined goals, budget, and metrics.

  • Report regularly to the Board and contribute to governance, strategy, and goal-setting discussions.

  1. Social Media and Communications Strategy:

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive social media and communications strategy.

  • Coordinate content development across teams, aligning it with seasonal themes and initiatives.

  • Promote partner agencies, client stories, PAWS events, fundraising initiatives, preventive education, and volunteer recruitment.

  • Utilize various media (stories, graphics, videos, reels, blog posts, posters, brochures) to increase PAWS' impact.

  • Increase social media reach/followers, setting goals for clicks and conversions.

  1. Digital and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain up-to-date profiles on LinkedIn and Google Maps.

  • Manage relationships with Ambassadors and/or Influencers.

  • Develop and execute fundraising campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday, Betty White Day, National Spay Day).

  • Conduct targeted advertising and impactful media outreach (press releases, feature articles, etc.).

  • Maintain a master list of media contacts and community notice boards.

  1. Advertising and Media Outreach:

  • Plan and run Google Ads campaigns.

  • Create targeted ads for specific events and initiatives.

  • Manage media outreach, building relationships with radio stations, press, and sponsors.

  • Explore paid ad options such as sponsored content stories, banner ads, and YouTube pre-rolls.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Proven leadership experience in leading and motivating small teams, particularly volunteers, with strong communication and coordination skills to drive successful campaigns and initiatives.

  • Proactive strategic planning in generating ideas and developing comprehensive plans to meet organizational goals, ensuring effective implementation.

  • Skilled in digital marketing strategies, including social media, SEO, and paid advertising, with a focus on increasing engagement, visibility, and conversions.

  • Experienced in managing media outreach, building relationships with the press, and executing impactful PR campaigns.

  • Ability to craft compelling content across various platforms (e.g., blogs, social media, video) to promote awareness and engagement.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously, with attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to align marketing strategies with overall organizational goals.

Commitment:

  • Term - Minimum 1 year

  • 3 to 5 hours per week

  • Attendance at meetings as necessary
