Are you passionate about supporting environmental action in London? The London Environmental Network (LEN) is seeking Governance Committee members to support the governance and policies of the organization. Please note we are recruiting for multiple members.

Volunteer Position Details:

The Governance Committee is a volunteer-run group composed of a Committee Chair, Board Members, community volunteers, and a LEN staff member. The Committee currently meets virtually 5-6 times per year, with approximately 2-4 hours of prep work expected between meetings. The minimum length on the committee is 1 year and may be renewed for an additional year, in perpetuity. This is a great opportunity to build your skillset and contribute meaningfully to the local community.

The Organization:

The London Environmental Network (LEN) is a registered environmental charity in London, Ontario that aims to create a sustainable and more resilient city. The LEN works to connect and engage individuals, nonprofits, and businesses in the community to reduce their environmental impacts. This is achieved through environmental programming and service offerings including Greener Homes London, Green Economy London, Nonprofit Resiliency Project, and more. The LEN also works to raise the profile of its 45 member organizations (environmental groups) to attract and engage Londoners in the environmental sector. Our vision is for London to be known as one of the greenest and most resilient cities in Canada. To learn more about what we do, visit our website at www.londonenvironment.net.

Committee Responsibilities:

The Governance Committee provides high-quality support to develop and review policies, support with board development, and ensure good governance oversight for the organization.

The Governance Committee reports to the Board of Directors (via the Committee Chair) and enables the LEN Board to maintain continuing oversight of the governance and policy affairs of the organization. The Committee meetings serve as an opportunity for Committee members to seek clarification and provide suggestions on matters relating to Board business.
