As shared in our last announcement on October 13, 2022, Pillar Nonprofit Network's Board of Directors has been working to establish a Community Advisory Panel to help steward organizational change and help us lead the organization through this next chapter. We are pleased to announce that the following individuals have been selected to participate as members of the Community Advisory Panel.
Al Day, N'Amerind Friendship Centre
Jennifer Martino, Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre
Carl Cadogan, London Black History Coordinating Committee
Kapil Lakhotia, London Economic Development Corporation
Andrew Chunilall, Community Foundations of Canada
Lynn Davis, Alegria 3 Inc.
and Stephen Bolton, Libro Credit Union
As promised, these community leaders were recruited through a collaborative process between the current Board, our Interim CEO, Maureen Cassidy, and concerned network stakeholders.
The work of the current Board of Directors will conclude in April, 2023 and no member will seek re-election. We will continue to fulfill our legal and fiduciary responsibilities until a new Board is elected and installed. Members of the Community Advisory Panel will facilitate the recruitment and onboarding of a new slate of directors that will be considered by Pillar’s voting members for election at the next Annual General Meeting in April 2023.
Mary Alikakos remains a board member but has stepped down as Chair. We are grateful for her steadfast commitment, for supporting Indigenous programming at Pillar, and for her thoughtful approach at the Board table, showing us there are many ways to lead.
I, Nicole Spriet, will be Acting Chair during this time. After previously serving as Chair and now concluding my eighth year on the Board, I welcome the opportunity to finish my service to Pillar in this role. I look forward to working alongside Maureen and the Pillar Team, as well as the Panel, to create a foundation for success as we launch into this new year.
The Pillar Community Advisory Panel will be seeking board candidates who understand Pillar’s role in advocating for and supporting the nonprofit and broader social impact sector toward social and economic recovery. More information to follow regarding the nomination process. Special thanks to the members of the Community Advisory Panel for your support and for stepping forward.
We remain committed to Pillar and thankful for the ongoing support of so many. You care about the important work of this organization, as do we. Thank you for believing in the vital role Pillar plays in supporting and elevating the local social impact sector.
We look forward to collective action and change in 2023.
Nicole Spriet
Acting Chair, on behalf of the Pillar Nonprofit Network Board of Directors
