Pillar Nonprofit Network and London Chamber of Commerce Announce Finalists for the 2024 Business Achievement Awards - Nonprofit Category

LONDON, ON. June 20, 2024 - For the second year in a row, Pillar Nonprofit Network has partnered with the London Chamber of Commerce to showcase the transformational work happening in the nonprofit sector at the 2024 Business Achievement Awards. Pillar Nonprofit Network and Libro Credit Union are proud to be Co-sponsors of the Nonprofit Category.

The response from the nonprofit community was outstanding, with 28 nominations received from diverse organizations across London. Of these, 19 applications were submitted for consideration to the volunteer selection committee. After a thorough evaluation process, which included criteria such as Community Presence and Engagement, Impact and Sustainability, People and Culture, and Organization Overview of mission, purpose, and vision, two finalists were selected.

The finalists in the Nonprofit Category are:

London Cares Homeless Response Services

London Cares is an organization founded to respond to individuals experiencing chronic and persistent homelessness in London. Their work is grounded in the Housing First principles of: housing is a human right, services are person centered, a harm reduction approach is deeply embedded in everything they do, and central to their mission is the conviction that people should be rapidly moved into housing, followed by the provision of intensive case management support to help them achieve stability.

Meals on Wheels London

Meals on Wheels is a Home and Community Care provider through an agreement with Ontario Health. They have been providing fresh and frozen meal delivery services to seniors and adults with disabilities since 1969. In addition to meal delivery, they also provide transportation services, picking clients up from their home for any wellness-related appointments in the city.

Meals on Wheels is motivated by a strong commitment to their volunteers, donors, partners, and community. Their aspirations and guiding principles are defined by the community they serve.

“We are honoured to collaborate with the London Chamber of Commerce in recognizing the outstanding contributions of nonprofit organizations through the Business Achievement Awards. Nonprofits are often seen solely through the lens of their social impact, yet their role as economic drivers is equally significant. They create jobs, stimulate local economies, and foster innovation and community development. By acknowledging their achievements at the Business Achievement Awards, we not only celebrate their invaluable services but also highlight their crucial role in building resilient and thriving economies. It is imperative that we continue to support and invest in the nonprofit sector, recognizing it as a key pillar of economic growth and sustainability." Maureen Cassidy, CEO, Pillar Nonprofit Network

The recipients of the category will be unveiled at the awards gala at RBC Place London on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Tickets are available here.
