The Original Kids Theatre Company (OKTC) is undergoing a search for its next Executive Director. Since 1991, OKTC has been a part of the London community, creating space for youth to explore theatre arts and follow their passions for stage performance while learning valuable skills in collaboration, teamwork, leadership and self-expression!
Role
The Executive Director is responsible and accountable for the overall day-to-day operation and management of the company. In partnership with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will contribute to the development and execution of the strategic goals of the organization and its operational plan. The Executive Director will oversee and manage the organization’s on-site operations, which will include business operations, volunteer coordination, Box Office, and the programming and staffing of the Kidlets and CampOK youth programs.
As a strong community advocate, and in partnership with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director, the Executive Director will also create, develop, and execute a community outreach plan that includes marketing and social media development as well as fundraising initiatives for the organization.
Qualifications
We are looking for our next Executive Director to have a strong passion for youth development and community theatre, with a people-first and collaborative leadership philosophy. The ideal candidate comes with at least five years of experience, has worked in a not-for-profit setting, and is a strong communicator who is not afraid to reach out to the community and build awareness for the organization. With a focus on organizational excellence and a strong business and financial acumen, they think creatively to develop and execute new ideas and concepts. Experience or knowledge in community fundraising or development would be considered an asset. Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline is required.
Compensation
- Three-year renewable contract.
- Salary of $68,000-$72,000 commensurate with experience.

About Original Kids Theatre Company
Original Kids Theatre Company (OKTC) is a youth theatre organization in London Ontario. Original Kids enriches and celebrates the lives of young people through the arts, providing them with opportunities to mature and learn positive values through a variety of theatre experiences in a safe and challenging environment.
Original Kids is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and has been in operation since 1991. We produce upwards of 20 productions a year, ranging from Broadway musicals to Shakespearean dramas, original collective creations, and everything in between! We hire experienced staff to work with the company and train them to do the kind of work that Original Kids believes in.
Our central program is known as our “Main Cast.” The Main Cast of Original Kids is an ensemble of 300 kids between the ages of 8 and 18 each of whom participate in 2 full scale productions each year.
Youth programming is available for younger children aged 5 - 9 as part of the Kidlets program that includes March Break and summer program offerings in addition to Fall and Spring 8-week programs. Original Kids is also well known for its active and engaging summer camp programming, Camp OK, which is open to those aged 8 – 16. Camp OK offers 2 weeks sessions July through August with additional leadership and leader-in-training programs for older youth.
Our youth cast members play a pivotal role in the operations of our organization as members of the Box Office staff, stage management, technical operations, and other paid and volunteer opportunities. We are also proud to have a robust volunteer base within Original Kids that contributes significantly to the success of our productions.
