Investing in Children is hiring a Community Programs Leader. This position will start as a part-time position with the opportunity for a full-time permanent position, dependent upon the skills, talents and availability of the ideal candidate. The Community Program Leader will organize and lead programs as requested by our Investing in Children team as necessary and in cooperation with the management of Investing in Children. A successful candidate must be available to work approximately 15- 22.5 hours per week to start to meet our programs’ needs.  

Responsibilities include (but are not restricted to): 

  • Preparing and Delivering Family Literacy and Math Events at schools for K-Gr 3 and their families. Events are generally held in the evenings from 5:30 to 8:00. 
  • Assist in the development and execution of all programs including our Family Literacy and Math Events, Blue Boxes for Books Program, Young Authors’ Virtual Camp, Kids Power Conference, Kids 1st Day, Snack Stop, HARK, Special Olympics etc.
  • Coordination of volunteers (including recruitment, screening, training, and scheduling)
  • Preparing reports and collecting data for program funders 
  • Researching and creating content, scheduling and posting on our social media channels.


Qualifications: 

Post-secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education, or Degree in Early Childhood Leadership, Education, or related education or experience
Understanding of child development 
Strong time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills and capacities 
Excellent oral and written communication skills 
Exceptional ability to work independently, consult appropriately and work collaboratively with a team
Advanced skills related to planning and priority-setting 
Proficient in researching and creating social media content 
Comfortable in leading programs and engaging with children and families
Police screening for vulnerable sectors is required
A vehicle is required. We deliver all our programs in the community so a vehicle is a must.
Must be available to work occasional evenings, specifically for Family Literacy and Math Events. Events usually run from 5:30 to 8:00 at various schools.
Grant Writing experience is an asset
Graphic Design and website management experience is an asset 


Details  

15 to 22.5 hours per week  at  $18-$21 per hour  depending on experience. There is potential for the position to turn into a full-time permanent position. Usually, the candidate would be required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with some of those shifts being afternoon shifts. Must be available to work some afternoon shifts to deliver the Family Literacy and Math Events. Must have a vehicle and be available to commute to schools and locations in London and the surrounding area with travel expenses provided.
