Take the famous Christmas tale by Charles Dickens and mix it with the story of the founding of the Talbot Settlement on the north shore of Lake Erie in the early 19th century and you have An Upper Canada Christmas Carol. Scrooge becomes Colonel Thomas Talbot; Marley becomes John Graves Simcoe and Tiny Tim becomes Wee Jim. It’s the same tale of haunting and redemption that we know so well from A Christmas Carol, but with local history lessons and a dose of Jason Rip humour.
